Really thinking of trying to hatch some of my pekin eggs if they're fertilized. What would be the best way to make an incubator?

I just wanted to say YAY! You'll have tons of fun with it. I don't know anything about making incubators since I buy mine, but there are lots of people on here who have had success with ones they've made. You can try doing a forum search to get ideas, and others will probably respond here as well. I saw a post just this morning from someone who had made their own incubator, but I can't remember what thread it was in.

Thanks! All very exciting will read up all about it over the next few months as its coming into winter here and I'll wait until it's warmer! Will probably buy one too, to give them a good chance!

Ok I'm 99.5% sure that I have a female (mylo) and a male(renamed LJ!). There is no prominent curl (they've fallen off at the min) but he sounds a lot quieter and Mylo keeps encouraging him to hop on! Anyhow, I def want to breed from my own ducks, so if it turns out I've two girls I'll have to find a mate. What is the usual protocol, does the male visit for a while? And what sort of cost might it be (if any!).

Not sure what you mean. Are you asking how much it might cost to buy a drake if it turns out you don't have one?

Was wondering if it was like dog breeding? Are there 'stud ducks' Lmao?!

Ah, yes, very common with dogs and cats. I used to do that myself. I've only heard of one person using what you'd consider stud service with ducks, but it's probably not as uncommon as I'm thinking. I have no idea what the cost of it would be. It's not something I'd be willing to pay for unless the stud was an excellent show quality drake. Perhaps, if you can even find a "stud," you could offer them a duckling like some people do with pick of the litter with dogs and cats? That's something I've never done and wouldn't even consider. You lose your best animal that way, which can even mean your only animal if there's only one that survives. That probably doesn't matter as much, though, if you aren't breeding show animals.
