Hi,
I spoil my new chickens with just a 60 watt ceramic bulb heat emitter because they lay eggs by the time I am up and I don't have to wonder where they will end up. For some reason they find their own nest areas. go figur' they are free run, want privacy maybe. My note is this though, if she is sick she needs heat. Any sick animal needs it so the stress is not so high while they are fighting the disease or injury. The farmer next door puts his in the incubator till they recoop. I have lovebirds and do the same with a covered hot water bottle or heated room. Good luck. Get her some friends of course.
I live in the Upper Fraser Vally, BC, Canada. Coldest it has been is -7C so far.
This is their first winter and they are 5-6 months old. I love 'em.
I also have one rabbit, two cats, a WGSD, nonsense cross, mini dachs, 5 lovebirds, and one quaker parrot. My bovans which are the same as star comets on this website are just three in number.
