To keep my eggs from rolling around in the incubator I use toilet paper & paper towel rolls. I take the cardboard centers and using scissors cut them into 1/2 inch thick little rings. I put the in the incy & they keep the eggs from rolling. Also when it comes to turning them quick & easy

you could just use an egg carton. wouldnt that work the same way?

I get the idea: You want the stability that an egg carton would provide, but you want more air around the egg in case of the odd pip.
