Our chicks have just completed their 7th week and are living in our coop. While in the brooder, we kept the heat lamp on every night and during the day if temps were lower than recommended. Since we have moved them into the coop, they prefer to sleep outside the box/hen house but raise cain if we turn the light off. It is a soft 60w white light. They do not like the dark. Should we keep the light on or make them suffer?

I used a solar light and charged it during the day, then put it in the coop aimed at the ground away from their night time perch. We call it the chicken night light. :) Just have to remember to pull it out in the morning when you let them out. Good luck with your babies!
