Yea, I got carried away, again! I will be haveing over 200 eggs hatching next week. These are mixed varities and even include a few Turkeys. My problem is how do I fit two trays worth of eggs in the bottom of the Dickey Incubator. Should i just stack them in there and remove as they hatch. I think this is my only option, but I am afraid that unless I babyset the incubator I could end up with baby chicks getting smothered by their brothers and sisters. What about if the eggs at the bottom of the stack decide to hatch first. would the egg on top squash the chick on the bottom. What If I just leave one tray in the turner with the turner cut off. I wonder how many chicks would fallout of that tray and get injured.

Need to make note to myself, Self, build a seperate hatcher before the next big hatch!

Why buy when you can build!!

My new hatcher design is 89in wide, 16in high and 24 inches deep. It will have three seperate caged sections so that It can also be used as a brooder box. It will be mounted on the wall of my new brooder house, the floor of which will be home to the chicks to big for the hatcher/brooder box. The bottom of the hatcher will be a drawer that can be removed for emptying the shavings and poop. Heat will be supplied by a solar water heater with a backup heat source of a 110V 6 gal hotwater heater. The water will circulate thru pex tubing by means of a solar powerd water pump that will be thermostaticly controlled using a digital thermostat. Humidity will be maintained by a ultrasonic fogger using the same solarpanels that run the water pump. I will use golfcart batteries as a backup power supply.

Now where can I buy something like that??

Love it! If you do houses, I think I'll hire you when we get ready to build! That's amazing, truly:)

I dont really know how to build what I described, but I did stay at a HolidayInn last nite.

OMG and your funny too!

I converted or shall I say converting as we write a still air incubator very nice cabinet style into a hatcher with a fan from a microwave so I can use both shelves to hatch temperature issues from one shelf to the next testing it out shortly need to use it Sat for 41 eggs little cozy really 36 fit the best but I never figured to have this many make it....started with 51 shipped eggs never done it this way always used a hen....I guess a couple could be bad but I have turkey eggs and more shipped eggs coming so I can't have hatching going on at the same time....well putting the fan in is a no go-room for it underneath but too small of air hole because it's thermal and it is all stainless so maybe the airflow will be better because I found plastic baskets that let the air thru checking it out now...
