Cutting out a bit of background, I have 2 coops because of a conflict between my rooster and my silkie.

Coop one - Smaller coop, mainly meant to house my silkie.
Coop two - Larger coop, meant to house my rooster and his girls.

About a month ago, I moved a fresh batch of chicks into coop one with the silkie so that they could be raised up and eventually move in with the rooster. Some of the nicer ones were meant to stay behind to be companions to the silkie. Shortly after taking on these chicks, my silkie decided to go broody. Gave her 5 eggs, and the expected hatch is roughly on the 23rd.

The littles that are currently living with the silkie will be roughly 8-9 weeks old when the new eggs will be hatching. There are also 8 of them.

So, here's the question that I want to get some advice on, do I...
A) Keep the 8-9 week olds in coop one with the silkie and build a guard around the current broodybox to keep the freshly hatched away from the 8-9 week olds.
B) Move the 8-9 week olds to coop two to live with the rooster and the 4 hens over there. Letting the silkie and the freshly hatched run free in this ~24 sq foot coop with the door shut.

I think you're silkie will protect the chicks and they won't have any problem with the 8/9ers. I also think the 8/9ers shouldn't have a problem at that age with the other chickens. Just provide a lot of clutter for them to hide behind.
