To young to roost?

Our chicks are only seven days old and they are cimbing, no flying up ontop of the feeder jar and then flying off. Yesterday my daughters left the cage door open on accident and they all perched themselves on the edge of the doorframe to the cage. Raising chickens 101 says 1 month for a low roost, but they seem like they are ready for one now. should we try it or wait.

If they want one, why not? I don't see any harm in it.

My chicks all started to roost at different ages, but some of them started as young as a week old, so get them something to sit on, it doesn't have to be high, but the higher it is the more they are going to try to get on it. Highest on the totempole kind of thing, you know.
