Hello fellow hatchers!

I am freaking out a bit. I have been closely monitoring the humidity and it was pretty stable at 60-65%. Yesterday, day 20 I had 3 out of 11 pipped. This morning I wake up to 2 chicks hatched and 1 attempting to say hello to the world. However, with that being said let me tell you that my humidity has spiked to 80-82%. Isn't this way too high for the other 8 chicks that have yet to even pip? Won't/can't they drown in there? I candled all 11 before lockdown and they were all dancing in their shells. Shouldn't I have more pipped by now? Shouldn't I be seeing more action at this point? Please help.

Thank you!
Jennifer

Ya it's possible they could drown I would say your temp may be a little bit low. What is your incubator temperature setting on?

higher humidity will not cause drowning at this stage, its normal for humidity to spike once hatching starts, the chicks come out like wet sponges,

humidity below 40% during the first 18 days is important.

you can open the bator and tap the eggs while next to your ear and listen for chirping - you should hear something from most of the eggs if they are still viable but a staggered hatch over 2 days is not uncommon.

good luck
