So today I got 4 ee chicks from the feed store and of course, my family is super excited - especially the 6 year old. We lost her favorite hen last week, so we need replacements. right? or is this how chicken math starts?

We also want 4 blue andalusian chicks, but they come in 2 weeks later. Should I make 2 brooder boxes? or can I mix the new chicks in with the 2 week olds?

here's the friendly chick from today. she just walked up on my hand and wanted to stay there!:

What a sweetie pie. I love her little face. I have an EE coming next week along with some others.

You are right about chicken math- It sneaks up on you. Good Luck!

The chicks will be young enough, so you should be able to mix them without any problems. I would give them a bit more supervision the first little bit, but it should go along just fine.

I love EE's they are so adorable. I had one hatch out 3 weeks ago and it is so cute, except I think the little bugger is a roo and that means he will need to be re-homed.

hiker125: ikr, they have such cute faces. good luck with your chicks

Lil_Miss_Farmer_Chick: good to know. I was worried because the new chicks seem so wobbly and easily stepped on. But I want them all to get used to eachother so they develop a good flock dynamic. ikwym about the roo. Last year I got an EE chick that turned out to be a roo. I was so disappointed, so this year I got 4. Hopefully they aren't all roos in disguise.

Yes this is the beginning of chicken math....an a chick chick here and a chick chick there...here a chick there a chick everywhere a chick chick!!!! (this would be what my kids say!) Your friendly one is beautiful!!!! I have 3 1 week old EEs and a EE hen too! I love them!

Good Luck!!!
