Toenail(s) question

Two of our Silkies are recovering after a bad case of Scaly Leg Mites. Today my brother and I are thinking of giving them a bath since they definitely need one (little dirty hens XD). One of them have very abnormally long nails, and I'm wondering is there a way you can trim a chicken's toenails if they are wicked long and curly without hurting them of course?

I use nail clippers that are made for cats but you can use whatever you have. If you cut them too close they will bleed but it doesn't seam to bother them too much
