After planning on getting a chicken for about 2 weeks now I find out that I’m allowed to get them with a special permit so I start planning where thefoop is gonna go the brooder and everything until I find out the price of the permit. I get told by the town that it’s $500 for a special use permit and additional fees apply which is ridiculous. I don’t mind spending $500 on chickens over a total of years altogether but not just to get the chickens and I then I would have to get a variance and if my neighbors complain about noise they could taken away :( this is all just stressing me out but my mom is going to talk to someone who works for he town so hopefully it all works out.

Welcome to BYC.
I hope you get something figured out.
I wish you the best of luck.

Update: I’m gonna get the chicks! I’m so happy about getting them. Planning on getting a silver sebright, an Easter Egger and one more. Can’t wait

Not really cause the additional fees that come with the permit will add up to about $2000 which is totally absurd so we’re just gonna get them on the low. The sound of cars and trucks will mask the sound of any clucking ☺️
