We were having a real infestation of tomato horn worms. They were defoiliating our tomatoes in hours! We picked off all we could find and I thought I'd offer some to the girls. They have been free-ranging, so I thought they mght enjoy them. They loved them! I couldn't find enough for them! Happy chickens! And my tomatoes may survive!

I had a bad problem with these last year but no chickens, I am almost looking forward to having them this year.

It's the weirdest thing. I have tomato horn worms every stinkin' year. This is the first year I've had chickens - and I have not seen one single horn worm on any of my 10 tomato plants. The girls don't have access to my veggies so it can't be that they are getting the worms before I see them. My chickens are loving the caterpillars from my lettuce patch though

Whew, glad we don't have those things in the PNW. The only one's I've ever seen were raised in the biology class lab for dissection. They really are big fat and squishy!

Me too! A friend told me how much chickens like these and we always have them on our tomatoes. Now this year I will get to make good use of them besides drowning them in soapy water before they eat the plants! I wonder how far the green juice squirts! Yuck!!!
