Tomato leaves OK?

My tomato plants are near their end and I wondered if it is OK to give the plants to the chickens to eat?

The leaves are supposedly poisonous; tomato is a nightshade plant. But I turned my chickens loose in the garden when the tomatoes were getting too many stings to eat, and they happily ate every last tomato without touching the leaves that I could see.
