Tomatoes

Are tomatoes okay for chickens? I find myself avoiding giving them, like I have a gut feel or something. Maybe they're too acidic?

Chickens LOVE tomtoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They love fruits and veggies! Especially the RED ones!!!

I toss all the fruits and veggies that I don't want over the fence so the chickens can pig out.

My chickens get tomatoes. They love them, as well as, pumpkins, squash, lettuce, radishes that have gone to seed. Anything that I throw in the run they pig out on.

My get the occasional water melon rind too.

Can they eat cranberrys?

Mine love cherry tomatoes. The fruit is fine but the leaves of the tomato bush can be harmful to chickens.

I use my six foot high run as a arbor for training tomatoes. Last year the sweet one hundreds went half way across the top What falls they eat.

Can they eat cranberrys?

Yes, cranberries like any dark red fruits are full of antioxidants . Mine will even gobble up dried cranberries.
