So I’m getting say old chicks on Saturday. Looking at Salmon faverolle, mottled Java, speckled Sussex, and crested cream legbars. (We’ll see what actually happens since I’m letting my kids make decisions within those breeds). Pretty decent sized birds.
I also wanted a couple silkies, but of course they’re SO HARD to sex for sooo long and I can’t have a rooster in city limits. So a breeder offered that she has a couple 3/4 weeks olds that she thinks are probably pullets.
Seeing as how silkies are little, is this still too wide of an age gap to put them in the same brooder until the silkies move out? Or maybe I could divide the brooder? I want all of the girls to feel like they’re part of the same flock.
Or do I pass on the 3/4 week olds and shoot for getting older pullets later? I’m worried that they wouldn’t mix in with eachother.
thanks
