Too cold to put chicks out?

I have 3 eight week old peachicks
I got them at 2 days old. They are in a large enclosure in our basement. I have put them in an outside pen several times in past 2 wks but now the weather has taken a nosedive into the lower 30’s. I really don’t want them in my basement til spring as I don’t see the weather improving until then
Any suggestions? Can I put them in a 5 x 6’ shed with a heat lamp or should I just keep them in the basement til spring?

I dont think you'd have to keep them inside til spring but another month would help them be more prepared for outside. Then move them into the shed with heat lamp until they are well enough to live without it.

Just my 2 cents. I havent had peacocks but thats what id do with chickens if they werent ready yet. Cheers

If you could gradually acclimate them that would be the best thing. Especially if there’s been a big drop in temperatures.
This time of year can be difficult to predict. Wind protection is very important.

I agree with MissChick, I put mine out in the brooder house with a heat lamp until they quit using it. They need to become acclimated at some point and the sooner the better. I have chicks younger than that still with momma and it is getting into the teens here at night. Those chicks are able to get under the warmth of momma when they need to and roam about in the cold when they don't.
