Too late to toe punch at 6 weeks? What about 1 week?

Am hating to change the spirals every week or two and so is whichever family member gets to hold the bird. Up to size 7 or 8 tomorrow. Started at size 4. And they're only 6 weeks. Before you can turn around, it seems that someone has too tight a band and it's scaring me that we'll miss one one of these times.

Just got the toe punch in the mail.

Is it too late to toe punch the 6 week olds? We do have blood stop powder around here somewhere if that matters.

Okay. I'm sick. Maybe I wasn't clear because of being sick.

Will the toe punch still work if the chickens are beyond the hatch age. All directions I've read say to do it at hatch. Will the hole close up if I do it at 1 week? Will the hole close up if I do it at 6 weeks? Will there be a lot of blood at either age? Will they pick at each others toe pick if it's bloody?

But please answer b/c I can't do anymore research trying to find answer. Too sick, but need to get the bands off birds and either toe punched or another band on them. Prefer toe punch if possible.

you can do it at 6 weeks just make sure you punch alot out , like instead off one hole punch 3 or 4 that are connected so that it doesnt grow back together , i toe punch all of mine , and you dont have to worry about blood stop it will only bleed a little bit wont hurt them , also 3 or 4 days after you do it , catch them again and clean out the marks and make sure they dont grown together, i also wing band mine too i do both because i want to be sure which ones are from what birds , its better safe than sorry so if it is important to be sure of the markings i would say toe punch and wing band , there is a toe punch chart out there , you may can google it and find it
