Too long in the shell - crooked body/neck

Wow that's great it made it, still not sure about mine I just don't know how the bones go to be trying to tape & splint I'm afraid of doing it the wrong way the little bones are so fragile. Glad your lil guy made it. It's so stressful I kinda wish I didn't get so dam attached to them sometimes for just this reason. I can't believe how often this is happening now I'm hearing it more from posts for the ducks & chicks. ~Julie~

I read somewhere in this forum that the actual pushing out of the egg is necessary for the development of the chick, so when I helped the last 2 chicks zip after their 24+ hour pip, I only helped enough to zip them around. I left them in the half-shell and figured it was up to them. I'd done the hard work! I also made very sure that they were not shrinkwrapped to the membranes before I put them back in the bator wrapped in very damp paper towel. It took them an hour or so of resting, but both did push themselves out of the eggs and were in good shape.

Thank you so much everyone. I think that even though I've had success with breaking out other chicks, this one just wasn't strong enough to survive. It's so hard when they're alive and cheeping to accept that!

I had to help a little guy out of the shell on day 23 or 24 of the hatch - he was cheeping so energetically I couldn't leave him. Anyway, he has a floppy/crooked neck and also issues with his legs. I've banded his legs together but it isn't helping him keep upright b/c his neck keeps flopping backwards, back into the shape he was in in the shell. I can't find anything on the forum describing crooked neck as a result of being too long in the shell, only vitamin deficiency type issues. Does anyone have experience with this, is there anything I can do to help the little guy other than hand feeding and neck massages? I'm wondering about a splint of some sort? Thanks!
I had this happen 3 days ago. I immediately started Nutridrench, Poultry cell, vitamin E mix with water and using a dropper. Day in I made a neck brace and today I have a perfectly normal chick. I wish I could attach pics.
