Good morning all,
I have a RIR who is on her 8th day of sitting on 4 eggs today

Well yesterday one of my BOs decided that she wanted to be a mama as well and her sister figured it was a good idea too.

Now I took the eggs from her and got her out of the coop. Man, she was not a happy camper!
My question is how many broodys do you have and what in the world do you do with all the new chicks?
I have 12 hens, 6 chicks on the way, a broody sitting on 4 eggs and 2 more wanting to sit. I am hopeing that my new chicks get here quick (ordered them from the feed store) and maybe then I will just "slide" them under my BO if she is still broody then. Hopefully she will adopt them.
What are the odds of the BO adopting the chicks?

Lots of people have success with sneaking new chicks under a broody at night. Some say it works best if the broody has been sitting around 3 weeks. It worked once for me and did not work once, she ran them out of the nest and continued sitting. Good luck!

I would kill to have a broody. I have 14 hens and NOBODY wants to be a broody. Not even a little. I have 8 new chicks I got from the feed store<not tsc> so maybe one of them will become one.............hoping..
