Top Knot of feathers hanging over chickens eyes

We have 3 chickens approx 2 months old. One of them which is obviously from our barred rock rooster and a hen with lots of feathers on her head and legs, has a beautiful black and white feathered top knot but we have just realized that the feathers are hanging over her eyes so she is having trouble seeing. I discovered this when I dropped some pieces of apple in their pen and she couldn't find them. We picked her up and pulled back the feathers and saw that her eyes look fine, just that the feathers are hanging down completely over her eyes. Should we trim the feathers back a little or leave them as is or what?

You should trim them. My polish chickens always gain a few IQ points when they get a trim. Harder to catch them though...

Thank you. We are on our way out to trim them now. I think I will just trim a little bit until I am more sure of myself.
