I have Top Hat chickens around 16 Weeks Old. The runt (Kids call him "Little Bit") has a problem with his right leg. There is an abrasion on the lower leg like it might have gotten caught in something (coop fencing?). He holds the leg to the front and does not bear weight on it. I have manipulated it and compared it to the other leg to see if the joints are the same as the other leg. I cannot feel obvious breaks or joints out of whack and it doesn't scream in pain when I move it. This will be the 3rd or 4th day since it happened and it has been isolated in a crate for 3 days. Any ideas if this might heal itself? Slings or splints that might help? I will try and get pictures to attach so you can see the way he holds it. It appears this is a second Rooster as I already have one that has the same coloration and red chin flaps.
These were Culled show chickens that were given to me so they were not sexed and I have what appears to be 2 Roosters, this one and another that is definitely a Rooster.
