My hen was injured the other day and has a broken wing. She was never friendly, I got her late in life, I never had the chance to hold her like I did my others so I cannot catch her to fix her. She is alive and eating and drinking, I keep a close eye on her even though she will not let me within three feet of her.
Today I could not find her and I got concerned, but I had to go to the dentist, when I came home a I drove up the driveway I saw one of the other girl's head peeking out af the corner beyond the fence.
The RIR was snuggled very close to the Lackenvelder hen who was hurt, she sat with her all day (in the sun) since this morning and is still there now. It was a very touching sight to see one protecting the other who is in need.
Makes you think about them in a different light. They truly are a family that looks out for each other.
I just wanted to share this with you.
