I’m setting up my brooder for the gosling coming next month. How tall are they going to get before moving outside at 4-5 weeks? We normally use an extra large wire dog crate for chicks but I know that won’t be enough floor space after a few weeks. How tall do the sides need to be if I add an addition for them to run around? Thank you.

I have two emden/pilgrim hybrid goslings that are a little over 3 weeks old, and they're about 1 foot tall. They're almost the size of my adult hen! They seem to appreciate any extra space, and if they're in a smaller brooder I would suggest bringing them outside to run around a few times per day. Good luck with your goslings!!

Thank you Gray Farms and KatieAnnFrench for your information. I have a dog run that is 24 inches tall that I wanted to use for the additional space (will add 4x6 additional feet to the crated area), but didn't know if this was high enough. I plan on taking them outside as weather permits daily and adventures to their future run/home.

Sounds good. A 24 inch tall pen will work until they are several months old. They won't be able to get over it.
