i'm in need to build another coop for my banty mom and her chicks currently 10 of them but i will be sizing down some, and she will be back w/ the others as soon as the chicks get old enough, also at some point i may attach it to my other run so they can all mingle, but keep the opening small enough for just the bantys to go to the tractor so they don't get bullied. i have a couple of ideas but i'm un sure of the size i need for bantys, should i use the rule of thumb for standard breeds? or go a bit smaller. i was thinking of a european style a frame or a salt box style. i want a tractor because its movable and i won't be taxed on it by the town like my other coop. any ideas on size and or pics would be great. thanks jim

Hi Jim,
I use a large dog crate (the closed in kind) shut on my shed for my broodys and chicks. Shut them in at night and let them roam the shed in the day. I would think it would depend on how long you were planning on keeping them in there. Generally for coops you go 2sq/ft for banties and 5sq/ft of run space, but seeing most are babies, I would account for that.
