You could have bought 6 and put some back when they walked away. They don't open the box again once they pack them up....or so iv'e heard.

My TSC walks the box up to the register so people can't mislead the store like that

Mine does a head count at the Register. You would also be paying for birds just to have them sold again.

Wouldn't matter much if you didn't need that many, a little blown money or a crowded coop?

Wow, my TSC absolutely does not care one little bit. Iv'e only seen them tell kids no until they come back with parents.

Tbh with as bad a rep they have for mixed up birds I’d keep all and when I know genders sell the extras. I was gifted 3 leghorn pullet chicks and 3 bantams. Only 1 leghorn turned out to be a girl and 1 of the straight runs. The rest were boys.

My local agway would let me take a chick or two, but they have me in the computer as having chickens... And only do their 'chick days' in the spring.

eta... I also like that they fully admit that the chicks that are marked as 'americana' are really 'easter eggers'. LOL
