Tractors and multiuse

I don't have any expirience with it, but I would think it would be okay. I have considered trying some quail in a tractor. Hardest part would be catching them when it was time.

Chuckars are NOT chickens... they are game birds with a strong prey drive. they will flush straight up and try to fly and hit the roof with their head if anyone or anything comes near. Then there is a whole littany of disease and parasite problems for gamebird growout to become aware of.

I was reading about Chukars and other game birds over the winter. Most suggest that they be raised off the ground in elevated flight pens. Game birds, as I understand it, are more susceptible to soil-borne parasites. If they stand around in there own poo at high densities, there is an increased risk of those types of nasties wiping out a high percentage of birds. Again, that's only based on reading and not experience so take it with a grain of salt. I do know folks that have ground-based flight pens and they didn't have much success. Their problems were more of a failure to thrive and cannibalism than disease and parasites though.

bossroo,

I am aware
Chuckars are NOT chickens

I was just wondering if it was possible. I currently raise quail in cages in my back yard. I have not done the research on chuckars. A friend asked if I was interested in some and I was thinking well I have a couple extra tractors this year for just in case. Why not see if I can tractor them.

I also did not not know they are like quail in the flight on site or straight up action. In that case the roof would need something soft up there.

Thanks
