I wasn't planning on transitioning to laying feed for another month or so, since I still have a 50 lb bag of starter for my 10 pullets. 8 of them are 12 weeks old and 2 are 15 weeks old. One of the 15 week pullets, a BR, has started to exhibit some "getting close to laying" behaviors such as squatting, loud clucking and her ears are bright red.
Yesterday, when I noticed her ears, I put out some oyster shell in a separate dish for her. Will it hurt her if I don't put her on laying feed for another 2 weeks or so? Should I switch all of them, even though most are still too young to lay, or should I just switch once I finish the bag of starter?
I wasn't planning on this so soon
