Transitioning chicks with big folks!

I know that I should wait until the chicks are relatively similar in size - right? And in the meantime let them get to know each other through the wire fence - right?

But what about the food issue.

The little ones need the starter and the older gals get the laying pellets. What's the best way to feed them all so they all get the right stuff?

When I put my chicks in with my layers (about 3 weeks from now) I am going to be feeding everyone grower rations for a while. My egg production will go down slightly at first but I think it will be okay. When the younger ones are about 18 weeks I will put everyone back on lay pellet
