Hello! First time on this forum, but I've just got a question that I haven't been able to answer online. I'm hoping to move to the UK (from the US) with two chickens for work, for about a year. I've found some information online on poultry processing. But can my birds be classified as pets? What do I need to do to move them safely there and back? Any information or similar experiences is appreciated, especially with links!

I'm sorry, I have neither links nor experience but I'd advise you to call the British embassy and ask them. Dogs and cats have to undergo a 6 month quarantine and I don't know why it would be different for any other 'pet'. Perhaps if you shipped them as livestock . . . but I still don't know how they'd get round the quarantine law. Sorry can't be more positive.

Very unique question. I''m guessing they can't travel along as "pets". England laws are quite strict and they have strict quarantine measures. I bet if you shout out UK in the forum navigation bar to find folks that live there you'll get good answers. Here's a link to get you started. Keep me posted, I'm curious. https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=United+Kingdom

Chickens are considered livestock/poultry, and those rules apply. Check with the British Embassy/ Consulate, or the British Agriculture Dept, for current regulations, because rules and requirements can change anytime. Mary
