Next weekend Im driving 3-4 hours to pick up 6 Buckeye chicks. Will the chicks be fine for that drive or should i give them food/water/heat for the trip?

I'd make sure the car was very warm on the drive home. They should be fine without food and water for 4 hours but make sure you get them settled into the brooder as soon as you get home and give them a wet mash out of their chick starter to make sure they hydrate. Show each of them the water and dip their beak in it or touch it to the nipple (depending on the style waterer you are using) to make sure they know where their water is.

I have used hot hands packets in a box of shavings when traveling long distance with chicks, to keep them warm. Worked really well. If they are newly hatched, they can go without food and water for that long but they'll need some kind of heat.
