My husband and I have just set up a batch of eggs in an incubator. It is mostly an experiment for us; my husband is very hopeful, me not as much, but anyway we intend to do our best. The incubator is homemade and we have a thermostat and a humidity measurer (? not sure about the more professional term). My husband is a daft hand at electronics.

Anyways, my question is: is it possible to unplug the incubator, take it with us, go away to visit my mom for a weekend (she lives about 1.5 hours from us), then plug it back in? Or would the damage to the eggs be potentially too great, if they stay 1.5 hours without heating? If so, it basically means we're stuck at home for the next 3 weeks (because the eggs have to be turned).

If you wrap each egg in a dish cloth, and put a towel inside the incubator, I think they will not bump around too much, and will retain enough of their heat that it shouldn't be a problem, but if you are wanting to do this more than 2 times, you will not have a very high success rate.
