My beautiful australorp girl got attacked by my labradoodle this morning. He didn’t shake her around to kill her but he left her exposed. I flushed the area with an antiseptic and isolated her until I get back home in an hour. Is there anything I can do to help heal her safely? All methods are welcomed. If any products I can get before I go back home today is also appreciated. Thanks

I'm a fan of Vetrycin, they have a poultry version I use on the chickens. We had a mare fillet her shoulder open, like over 12" of internal stitches and 18" of stitches externally. The vet said she would likely slough off a big slab of muscle and skin, but we flushed it heavily at least twice a day with Vetrycin then applied blue kote, she healed up amazingly well!

Sorry your hen got hurt. When one of ours got attacked by a neighbor's dog and got a large deep wound on her back, we flushed the wound twice daily with sterile saline in a spray bottle so we wouldn't have to scrub it clean. Then we blotted it gently dry with a paper towel and dressed it with Original Neosporin, which contains no pain reliever as it's toxic to chickens. Then we sprayed it with Vetrycin gel to protect and keep it moist. In three weeks she was all healed up, good as new. Good luck with your hen.
