Treatment for drip line water reservoirs

Does anyone know of an organic water additive that can be used to prevent water from going bad in larger water reservoirs? I want to build a "Hands Off" system, but am afraid that the water my grow 'stuff' that could harm the birds.

Unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. It will also improve the health of your flock and make it harder for them to get worms.

How much vinegar per gallon of water should I use? Thank you

2TBS It doesn't have to be exact to work, we do it by one glug for a 5 gallon bucket here.
