Treats for day olds

Can day old chicks have some clover leaves or clover blossom? I guess if they were with a hen they would be around all sorts of greens. Any advice?

Ours liked oatmeal real well just don't make it w/ milk

The best treat for day olds is boiled eggs. Boil them and break them up a little and watch them scatch and be happy. It also gives them a real healthy start.

I wouldn't give them anything but chick starter and fresh water for the first week or two, then they can have the cooked egg, bits of noodles, clover, etc.
Make sure you give them dirt or sand for chick grit when you start the treats.

My mom hens seem to keep their babies in the coop for at least a week before taking them out. I take from that to feed them nothing but starter during that week, after a week a couple of treats should be ok, best if you can make them a little outdoor run area to scratch around in for a couple of hours a day, to eat dirt/grit and a few little treats.
