KFCGirl♥ :

I have been watching an auction for some button quail eggs (http://cgi.ebay.com/6-Tri-Color-10-...810?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb6c66fc2) and i am really tempted to buy them. I know they are colony bred, but they are so pretty! What are your thoughts? What do you breed to get them?

check out Stellargamebirds.com (Quaillady's site) she has them and so does brackenridge farm but they have reasonable prices,do NOT colony raise nd are VERY knowledgable ....
those "Tri-colored pied" birds are NOT as unusual as you may think.

i didnt see them on her site though..

First of all she mentions hybrids... They are color mutations. She calls some vaders, no such thing. You should purchase from breeders who know the species and can represent them correctly: these birds are not colony birds.

You can mix colors to create pieds, whites with tuxedo pieds, whites with blue faces. Tuxedo pieds and normal blue breasteds. She colony breeds so her colors are a mess.

do you think the colors she has (i would like to breed for those colors) are mixed with wilds, white, and cinnamon? or blue face, white, and cinnamon. Or possibly cinnamon red breasted, wild, and white?

sorry for all the questions i have!
