I have three Easter eggers who are six weeks old, and one of them makes a trill-the rooster warning sound. Does that mean that my Easter egger is a roo?

! Great to have you in our community. Sorry - I'm having a hard time imagining the sound you are describing. Sorry!

My girls make a very similar trilling sound for both pleasure and as a danger alert. Sometimes I have to look to see what they're doing to determine if I'm hearing pleasure or danger. While preening = pleasure. Head up, looking out, at a standstill = alert. Depending on which girl is doing it, the alert sound can be much shriller, sharper, and louder than the pleasure sound.

Since my girls are the ones making this sound, I'd say that the answer to your question is no. Making a trilling sound - either for pleasure or as an alert - doesn't determine if the bird is hen or roo.
