My chicks (6 weeks) occasionally make a contented trilling sound. At least I think it is contented? They've been doing it for about 2 weeks, once in a great while. I've never heard that chickens make this sort of noise. But I don't have any chicken experience....thoughts?

They are BO's.

Glad to know what it is!

Can you imagine our grandparents or great parents shaking their heads in disbelief that we don't know these basic things like what sounds a chicken makes?!

I'm happy I can ask here

I grew up on a farm with chickens, but they were livestock and Mama Hen raised them, so this is all new to me. I remember the baby chicks and how cute they were out in the yard with Mama, but we didn't interact with them enough to know all those sounds they make and the goofy things they do in the brooder, which now crack me up. It is a whole new world raising babies in a brooder in the house with you as Chicken Mama.
