I set 26 chicken eggs, and they started hatching 1 day earlier than I had calculated. Of the 26, 8 hatched and were healthy. One pipped and quit. I waited another 48 hours, but there were no additional signs of life at all. Since I need my incubator for a batch of quail tonight, I went ahead and investigated the remaining eggs.
Two were unfertilized.
2 or 3 looked like they had just barely started to develop.
2 or 3 seemed to have a huge air sac but otherwise developed.
The rest looked fully formed but not alive. A few of those had a nasty cloudy fluid inside instead of the fairly clear fluid.
So, what went wrong? Is this just how it goes? I felt like the temp was very constant 99, and the RH was 50% until lockdown...up to 70% for last 3 days. I use an LG plus egg turner and fan. Only ever opened it at lockdown to remove turner and add wet rag.
Thanks for helping me learn!
