You made it longer than I expected.

I envy your number of birds in terms of breeder selection but not in the feed bill.

You ain't kidding there.
Been driving an SUV for years. Earlier this year we got a full size truck. I was celebrating getting to use it for weekly feed runs.
Before I had to make two runs a week and hand load it. A weeks worth was too much weight for my SUV. Now they can just bring a pallet out and load it in the back of the truck.
There's a glimpse into having too many chickens huh?
Think if I thin down a little more I can be down to 100 lbs a day.
Another reason to like leghorns. They eat a little less so a little less Xs a ton of birds actually comes out to a good bit of difference.

I like my current arrangement of 100 lbs every two weeks or every week.

I quite like my Leghorns. If they didn't have large single combs I might have been tempted to make them my main breed. The hatchery strains at least are the best layers existing in my opinion.

Come spring I will. Hardly getting to upper teens here. Too cold for pic taking.
I don't have anything amazing. I try to keep it cheap and easy.
Incubators are in a spare bedroom. Brooders are in garage. Steel building with pens for breeders and grow outs. Other pens outside along building. Few larger areas for varies reasons and 3 1/2 acre fenced in yard for a mix of everything. Right now about 95% are all running the yard.

Not sure how your winters are but here you don't have to worry about those huge combs so much after first winter.
I gave up on trying to save them so a lot of dubs here with older roosters. This year is bad I'm even seeing hens getting frostbite.

Winters have temperatures with -40 temps and sometimes weeks without getting much above 0*F.

No, they don't have issues after first year but it sure isn't nice for them to go through and it has significant impact on production and fertility. Plus, showbirds are quite hard to keep undamaged.
