I have a young rooster he is almost 7 months old and I am looking for a new home for him. He is a Buff Orpington mix. I really don’t care if he is kept as part of the flock or as a meat bird he would be great for either. He is a bigger bird with quite a bit of meat on him, but In my opinion he would make a really good flock bird because he is very kind and gentle. He loves to be petted and held. Plus he is very gentle with the ladies. While he does look more like the average rooster he is still very beautiful.

You say you don't mind if he goes for meat. Is there anyone around you that will butcher him for you? I am fortunate to have a Mennonite lady near here that butchers for $2 a head (used to be $1), and a friend who ends up with a few extra cockerels she gives me every year so that works out really well for us. So much so that this year I am ordering cockerel chicks on purpose for the freezer.

If I can’t find someone that wants him I will have to resort to finding someone that would be willing to butcher him. Thing is I don’t think I could eat him i raised him by hand and I grew really attached to him, but I already have a good rooster and they don’t get along so I really want to find someone that would like him.

Yes, it's hard to eat them once you've gotten attached. Good luck finding him a home.
