trying to fly out of the brooder!

Every night when I turn off the light for my 4 week old polish bantams they try to fly out of the brooder! My brooder is an old ferret cage or gunnie pig cage, they keep flying into the top of like they are expecting to get out at some point. Any clue why they are doing this??

Yea, he wants out! He is also trying to get up higher to roost.

That's why people put old window screens, or frames with hardware cloth or chicken wire, on top of brooders.
