Oh I'm willing to bet all my chickens are mutts. Bought 15 layers and 16 chicks from a private individual. Just wanted the eggs and the entertainment value. The learning has been a lot of fun as well, I really want some dorkings, my choices are limited living in MT. Dealing with sub zero weather at the moment, freezing water buckets, and keeping the coop heated so i don't find feathered meat popsicles when i go check on them. I lost 13 layers to 3 stay dogs thay got into my yard and thought they were squeeky toys. Luckily all of chicks were still locked up. Still getting 6-8 eggs a day from the 22 we have and 12 more on the way in the incubator and 1 that's 2 weeks old.
