Trying to lay an egg but can't??

My 1 year old California White has been trying to lay the past couple days, but gives up. She'll be in the nesting box for 30 minutes and leave.

She's done this a few times before, but it's never happened 2 days in a row. I don't think she's egg bound as she's still acting normally; pooping, eating, etc.

What's going on? Is she safe?

She probably is fine if she is still pooping. Sometimes chickens stop laying for a little while if stressed or uncomfortable. Did you get like a new bully chicken, take away a chicken, or get a dog or something like that that would be stressful to her? It might be as simple as you took away a toy she loved.

Thanks, there's been no changes so I'm not sure what's causing it, glad to know she's probably fine though.
