Trying to Learn

Hello,

I am new to the backyard chickens movement and am looking to learn as much as possible prior to the acquisition. At the moment, I don't have any chickens but I do have a whole lot of something- QUESTIONS!

I would love to have a steady supply of eggs to supplement my egg salad sandwich addiction and so am delving into chicken ownership. I took a class last week about keeping chickens and the instructor told me about BYC, and so, here I am, hoping to glean as much info as possible to help me NOT mess up any more than I have to.

Start with a few chickens but the biggest coop you can because you always want just a few more.. I started with 3 and have 15 three springs later

As I mentioned before (I think) BYC is a great place for lots of info! Good for you for taking a class first! I was reading for at least 6 months before I took the plunge.

I’m limited to ten in my city and my yard is on the smaller side so I’m somewhat restricted- I’m doing my best to make this happen, though.

Welcome to BYC. You have come to the right place for learning. I spent most of a year on here before taking the plunge and getting my own chicks. They're in the coop now, and I'm looking forward to my first eggs.
