Almost all cockerels out of 30 chicks. Need ideas on how to rehome most of them. My OEGB roo will not allow me to keep nor can I have 30 roosters to 5 hens. Also looking to purchase either a male guinea or guinea keets to give my lone guinea someone who speaks (screeches) her language. If anyone has an idea, I do not want 10 which is hatchery minimum 😳

Wow! I think that's about the worst luck I've seen anyone have. I'm sorry for the uneven ratio.

You could eat the unwanted cockerels or you could post them to CL or FB Marketplace. LetGo is another option though I'm not sure if live animal sales are allowed there. Some people also choose to keep a "bachelor pad".

Check your local CL for guineas. I had one single guinea for about 9 years. She lost her flock mates when they were younger and new to free ranging (no more of that!).. She grew up with the chickens and was best friends with a little Sebright rooster for 10 years. She was the sweetest girl. They can and will accept chickens as their company. When it comes down to it, that's the main thing they want - company. Good luck with your search!

You can read my posts from 12 years ago and see that I have ALWAYS had the worst rooster luck- from the first days haha. Well now I have all these boys and I love them all, but I cant have all of them. Its just too much work to work full time, garden full time, chicken full time and have another pen of boys that would need tending and proper space and attention.PLUS I need the pen for guinea. Right now my guinea girl does think she is a hen and lays her eggs in the same nest as the hens- free ranges with the chickens, however, she is the meanest "chicken" I have toward the littles. I have had them in with them since they were 3 weeks old (in their own pen inside the coop) and as they outgrew their pen, they made their own way out in to main coop. Its been a month now or a little more. But the guinea still chases them as if they were intruders- even though they are all now roosting at night. I know she is just being a guinea but I think she will do better with some of her own kind. She is pretending to go broody- sits all day but gets off at night to roost. Id love to give her some babies to raise but I will more than likely raise them because she isnt sitting reliably. Time will tell.
