Not sure if this is the right place...if not could someone move it?

I'm wondering what breeds of bantams are commonly found at TSC during chick days...and how to identify them! I know the chicks come from ideal, privett, or Mt Healthy....but not what breeds are commonly sent. I'm mainly interested in some bantam americana/ee's or potentially dutch bantams more than anything else I think...but I have no idea how to id them or if dutch would ever have any potential to be sent............any help/advice would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

The bantams at our local TSC are always labled ASSORTED

The majority of the time they will send popular breeds, but you may be lucky and find some unusual breeds. I know our TSC has silkies and the way to distinguish them is there black skin and 5 toes. They also had a few other breeds, one being OEGB's (old english game bantams), Japs, and cochins. Plus several other breeds that I could not distinguish. Hope I helped you a bit!

Last year at our TSC they had assorted bantams (I got a standard houdan out of the box but his type is too poor to breed), cornish x, and "Reds" which were all RIRs. This year they had "assorted bantams" (no cochins, or Polish but I did see a silkie), "pullets" (which I believe were all leghorn pullets), "straight run" which were mostly cornish x but a few others mixed in and "assorted reds" which this year were any chick that had red on it. I got 4 of these that look like they are feathering out golden laced but I will just have to wait and see.
So anyway, to answer the question, it varies. Just depends on what your store ordered.

I would suggest that you 'google' for pictures of the chicks that you want. Print out the pictures plus any information that might help, eg no of toes, skin colour, leg colour, comb, etc and take this with you when you go to choose. You might get lucky!

I figured they will have a tub marked "assorted bantams"...they did last year...I just don't know how to id any of the breeds! Do they ever have bantam americanas/ee's? How could I tell if they were??...
