I went to TSC today and they had a bin full of ducks. This is the 2nd time I have seen ducks this year. The first time the mimuim order was 2 but now its 24. Has anyone's TSC done this? I was shocked. I mean who wants 24 ducks at once? I asked the employee there and she said it is something new they are doing because people used to buy ducks for their kids to play with and then the ducks would end up dying. I guess I see their point but I still dont get why they couldnt do a minimuim of 6 or something. To me 24 is a LOT of ducks at once!

That is nuts!!!

Plus it's Easter, which I would think they would restrict sales because too many people buy ducks for Easter and know nothing about keeping them.

Here is what you should do. Ask for the store manager, tell him that they are not for children and that you are very familiar with raising ducks. He/she should be able to make an exception. They don't want to sit on the birds, so it is in their interest to sell to those that a suited.

Actually, I can see that it's good for them to try to think of SOMETHING that will prevent all that awful duck dumping that starts two weeks after Easter. That is worse than sad.

But, 24?! My max is 12!
Small ones!

I know, I can see why they would raise the minimuim because I hate to see something happen to the little buggers. But I mean for the people who just want a few and are going to take care of them, I dont think its fair for the state to raise the minimuim to 24. I am still in shock! Haha! But I am glad that they are looking out for the little fuzz balls.

EmtheFishLady,

same kind of crazy as so many of us!

Our space limitations are one reason I stick with a limit of 12. Another is just that I know the kind of relationship I like to have with my animals, and much more than that (plus our three cats), would limit my time available for training.

By the way, the runners have turned out pretty well, so far. I can herd them around the place pretty easily, and pick any of them up to check for boo-boos.
