What can I put in the feed? Currently I'm using a mix of corid medicated water, a little Gatorade and raw egg. I tried powdering the chick crumbles, it won't go thru the tube. I also tried ground up meal worms, again, gets stuck in the tube.

Can I use baby formula? Baby food, maybe like peas or something? I'm using a cat cath as a tube so it's pretty thin. My chick is 11 weeks old, small and bone thin.

My vet suggested the meal worms. She also said the chick is jaundiced. And that the chick probably wouldn't make it. That was 24 hours ago, which is 48 hours longer then I thought she'd live. So, since she is making such an effort, what can I do to help her?

One more question. I have had her wrapped in a towel to stay warm, so as you can imagine her tush was a mess, like capital M mess! Worst smell ever! We washed her off in nice warm water as best we could. Her feathers in the area after washed up almost felt like they had chunks of hard calcium in them, very chunky, chaulky feeling and white. How can we keep her warm enough, but keep her hind end cleaner? She can't sit up on her own, so we have her propped up. Is it ok to lay her on her side, or will her food come up out of the crop?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the answers!! This little girl is a fighter!

When a chicken has coccidiosis, the gut is not working well enough to digest food normally. I would probably just stay with the Corid medication, and afterward, give probitotics and vitamins. A chicken sling may help get her off the ground and upright.

I should have said I looked at two pet stores today for the parrot formula with no luck. I've got a few more tomorrow I can call and check. She has lost so much weight I really want to get some calories into her. I do have her in my sunroom, with the lamp on during the evening and night. Plus, she has a flockmate keeping her company also recovering, tho not in nearly as bad shape. It's sweet tho, the one that can walk lays right next to the one who can't.

I never knew there was such a thing as a chicken sling!! Off to check those out, thanks for the tip!

Sorry that my last post was hard to see even after trying to fix it several times. A chicken with coccidiosis will probably not digest their food due to the infection, so I would concentrate on getting the Corid water into her. Undilued Corid liquid can be given a couple of drops twice daily, along with what your are getting into her mixed with water. Powder Corid can be mixed 1.5 tsp into 2 tsp of water, and given the same way to boost what she is getting. Here is a lik to many types of chicken slings that people have fashioned: https://www.google.com/search?q=chi...v&sa=X&ei=rxGhVde-F8Xk-QHo9JfwDA&ved=0CB0QsAQ

She really went down hill over night. her crop isn't even empty this morning and she isn't moving around at all. We'll try to give her some corid water this morning, but I think we are just prolonging the inevitable. :(
