I finally decided to start raising a couple of chickens. I just got a Golden Sex Link chick and she is super cute and curious. I am looking for a Silkie chick of any color but i prefer black. If anyone knows where I can get one, let me know please. Also any tips or help would be welcome. :)

Thanks

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You might stop by our Buy Sell and Trade section in hopes of finding a Silkie chick that might be near by...https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/250783/buy-sell-trade-rules-must-read-agree-to-participate-in-bst

Lots of feed stores carry chicks in the spring time too. You might stop by your local feed store and ask when they may be carrying Silkie chicks.

Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of good articles on all the aspects of keeping chickens...https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Enjoy all your poultry adventures and welcome to our flock!

We're glad to have you.

Good luck with your Gold Sex-Link! She should be a wonderful layer for you when she grows up, and very docile, too. I hope you can find the Silkie you're looking for! They are usually very sweet birds as well.

Welcome to BYC - silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age - sometimes not till they lay or crow. The younger the chick the more likely you are to get a cockerel, if your really want a pullet. I say that because on this thread - frequently hear of new people complaining that their pullet morphed into a cockerel. It has happened twice to my friend who has bought silkies often. When she bought 5 mos.pullets from a show breeder, she got beautiful pullets- that stayed female.

If sex doesn't matter to you, than disregard my remarks.
