The roo in the top picture I believe is an EE.

This roo not sure is he a naked neck or a turken? I went on line and I do not know the difference between the two. what I do know is that my girls have calmed down since he came into the picture and he is very gentle and watchful of them. He was given to us by a neighbor as well as the three up above. I was told that there wings were clipped to keep them in, these four were left behind by their owner. At first I did not want the naked one thought he was ugly but he is a beauty and has grown on me, his name is Marty. Tell me what he is so that we can correctly tell others when they ask us about our weird looking chicken.

I will be integrating the top 3 with him again as well with my 5 girls and am concerned about the roos not getting along what can I do to help them? They were together before and Marty was the aggressor in their old coop but since we have had him (1 week) I find that he is a sweet heart. The other is aggressive with the two hens. We have had them here 2 weeks now. Advice please.

First rooster is a mixed breed- I see a hint of crest (the head pouf like on silkies, polish etc). the crest is typically small in crested and non crested mixes, with tail and legs like that and probably the aggressive attitude could be mostly Game mix. but could be Phoenix mix. If his skin is dark, then probably silkie and game or silkie and phoenix mix. The hen next to him is an EE for sure.

Turken is a 'slang' name for Naked Neck. NN is a breed.. but mixes are very very common. Marty is a naked neck mixed with ?? but again due to body type it seems probably mixed with game- lean body with longish tail feathers(which also seems to hint the other roo being a game mix not a phoenix mis). Glad you warmed up to him- naked necks do have the problem of people rejecting them solely based on looks but they can be really good birds.

BTW there's a whole thread devoted to turkens/naked necks- come on over!

Thank you I will go and check over and check out the NN thread. The roo's seem to have similar tails. I am going to try and get a better picture of the first roo he turns away, as his two hens do, when I have the camera out. Hiding their identity

good one.

You are very observant. I did not realize he had a pouf, went out and looked at him sure enough there is a small pouf going on. He is a mean one but too afraid of me to attack me at least for now. I am establishing my ground has head roo in the yard. Marty gets upset when the girls come running when I am out in the yard, I am, after all, keeper of the food. He runs around clucking up a storm trying to get them to go back to where they were all huddled under the tree. Food wins out every time.
